CATNIP VIOGNIER 2017

PalateThe palate has a lovely texture and mouthfeel without being oily as Viognier is prone to do. There is an abundance of fruit, spice, citrus and hints of green pepper held together will zesty acidity finishing on a clean dry citrus note.

Food Pairing: Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Thai and Korean dishes work well with the texture and flavours produced by this terrific variety.

About the wine: Produced in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Winemaker Scott Heidrich looked at the varieties that grow well there and the corresponding region in France. Shiraz and Grenache are the stand out red varieties of McLaren Vale which also grow very well in the Rhone region. One of the most interesting whites from this area is Viognier (Condrieu appellation). Scott made the wine in a fresh aromatic style, completely un-oaked. It looks a bit like a Sauvignon Blanc on the nose and a Chardonnay on the palate.
