Black Blood II comes from Hugh Hamilton’s Church Vineyard — a block wrapped around the old Bethany Church, planted on the bed of an ancient river. That quiet waterline still runs at the base of the vines, and you can taste the generosity it leaves behind.
Hugh says there’s never enough wine from this block, and it’s easy to see why — the wine is all about a phenomenally plush mid-palate, with a big, luxurious feel that still carries freshness.
Expect a heady mix of perfume and polish — boudoir florals, red leather, tobacco and cedar, then waves of dark fruit and milk chocolate through the palate, finishing with rose notes and that red-earth, Vale-grown depth.
Drink it fresh and crunchy, or let it settle into something deeper and more nuanced — either way, it’s built to deliver.
Drink: now through 2–8 years
