Black Blood III is sourced entirely from Block 4 of Hugh Hamilton’s Black Sheep Vineyard — old vines planted back in 1935, thriving in deep sand and producing a wine with incredible lift and perfume.
This is Shiraz with a real dual personality: floral and seductive up front, then darkens into something more savoury and spiced. The palate walks the line between savoury and sweet, with tannins that bloom through a crowd of fruit and florals, finishing crisp and salivating — the kind of red that pulls you straight back for another glass.
A serious bottle, but with elegance and flair — built for the next few years and brilliant with aromatic spice.
Drink: 4–8 years
Food match: seared five-spice duck breast (or slow roast the whole bird)
