SMALLTOWN VINEYARDS THREE MONKEYS GRENACHE SHIRAZ MATARO, BAROSSA VALLEY 2017
Nose: Warm plum and raspberry fruit on the nose with hints of rocky earth, spice and violets
Palate: Lovely and ripe, medium to full bodied with juicy plum and raspberry on the palate also, with black cherry, spice and a lick of creamy oak. It’s a generous juicy mouthful with bags of fruit and spice, a hint of tea, good acidity too, keeping it vibrant. It’s texture and minerality make it a crunchy accompaniment to the most epicurean barbie
Food Pairing: Great with roast beef or lamb, as well as grilled meats and BBQs
About the wine: A sensuous blend of Barossa classic. The grapes are grown from various vineyards in the Barossa with an emphasis on the Western Ridge region. Several different parcels are used: bright and juicy wild yeast Grenache (partly whole bunch) along with parts aged in old and new oak. Bottled after 11 months in oak, it’s deliberately made to be enjoyed young; lots of black cherry fruit, spice and crunchy tannins
Country: Barossa Valley, Australia
Grape Variety: Grenache 67%, Shiraz 20%, Mataro 13%
ABV: 14%
